Sealux HydroHalt & Accepted Joint Sealing Principles
Respected construction codes of practice worldwide adopt the same proven principles in respect of the necessity:
1. to provide movement joints in buildings to relieve built up stress. The joint between a shower tray or bath ledge and adjacent wall is a movement joint liable to expand or contract.
2. to ensure joint substrate compatibility and adhesion with sealants being applied to seal such movement joints. Sealants must not react with, but tenaciously adhere to joint substrates.
3. to ensure the correct selection and dimensional application of sealant with a backer material to flexibly seal such movement joints. Joint design is critical for sealant flexibility.
HydroHALT is basically a three component sealing system comprising of:
a) The HydroHALT strip
b) A Sealant Backer Material
c) Sealux-N Sealant Adhesive
Sealux-N conforms to EN 15651-1: F-EXT-INT-CC 25LM, EN 15651-2: G-CC 25LM, EN 15651-3: S XS2. In common language it is a neutral curing, low modulus, highly flexible, sanitary grade silicone adhesive.


The selection of Sealux-N sealant adhesive and its proper dimensional application in combination with a backer material is the key principle upon which the HydroHALT Sealing System is founded.
What makes the HydroHALT Sealing System revolutionary is that we have combined this proven principle with a strip that has been specifically adapted for tenacious adhesion with Sealux-N.
The HydroHALT strip membrane prepares the shower wall substrate for an indirect tenacious but part-releasable engagement with Sealux-N and the adjacent shower tray or bath side wall.
This joint detail provides the benefit of allowing a relaxed separation of a lower portion of the HydroHALT strip from the wall surface behind, which in combination with flexibility in the Sealux-N created through the installation of the backer material, accommodates substantial joint expansion.
